Kyouran Kazoku Nikki – Episode 3

29 April 2008 By Sam No Comment

ED Theme: Wagahai wa Shougojuu de Aru ka? by Hiroki Yasumoto [Youtube] – I rather enjoyed this ED even if it wasn’t as great as the previous one. It was much more serious and took a much more slower tone then the rest, which suited the character it was based on. (Teika) well. Just incase you all haven’t heard, there are different ED Themes for certain stations/areas in Japan, and it seems like they are switching them around every week or two. Look forward to the next one!

Review: Thanks to my bandwidth going sloooooooow again, it has taken me just a bit longer to write this up. This episode sure took the comedy part of the show and compacted it to make it out to be a more serious storyline, with a bit of crazyness in the end. (Attacking security guards with the Mona Lisa is just a tad overboard, but no complaints here). This episode showed the relationship between Ginka and the new character Senko, who in the end becomes a member of the family.

Graphics: The graphics was as same as ever, althrough some of the added extras such as the Mona Lisa painting weapon was a very nice touch and very well done. The Rozen Maiden style (in my opinion) costume of Senko was really well done and it gave her tone during the first part of the show an extra boost. [5/5]

Sound: Good as ever [5/5]

Characters: This episode focuses around three characters… Ginka, Senko and Yuuka. This focuses around Yuuka’s continuous bullying (What the heck… they get chased around by lions, a flying jellyfish and a robot and still continue to bully her!?) by her sister Senko. Alas, Ginka steps in to rescue her and then it goes back into the past of Senko and Ginka. In the end however, all is right! Wish there was a bit more on some of the other characters, but that will most probably come next episode according to the previews. [4.5/5]

Storyline: I think I basically summed it up all in the Characters section. [4/5]

Overall Score:

Graphics: 5/5

Sound: 4.5/5

Characters: 4.5/5
Storyline: 4.5/5

Total:  18.5/20 A
